The Concept

LinkedIn cards are the billboards of professional content. A well-designed card stops the scroll, communicates value instantly, and builds brand recognition. The goal was to create a premium card design system with a warm editorial aesthetic — inspired by Open Design principles.

Design Exploration

Prototype v1: Desktop-First Card

The first prototype established the core visual language:

  • Warm editorial palette — cream backgrounds, deep navy text, soft accent colors
  • Depth & texture — subtle shadows, rounded corners, layered surfaces
  • Typography hierarchy — bold display headings, readable body text
  • Visual rhythm — consistent spacing and alignment grid

Prototype v2: Refined & Extended

The second iteration refined the design with:

  • Improved spacing — tighter rhythm for information density
  • Enhanced hierarchy — clearer distinction between title, metadata, and body
  • Visual accents — subtle decorative elements that reinforce the brand
  • Better contrast — WCAG AA compliance verified

Mobile Adaptation

A dedicated mobile prototype ensured the design works at smaller sizes:

  • Single-column layout — cards stack vertically
  • Larger tap targets — buttons and links sized for touch
  • Condensed typography — shorter line lengths for readability
  • Simplified decoration — reduced visual noise at small sizes
